LaRHONDA STEELE – the powerhouse soul/blues vocalist, grew up in Oklahoma in a musical environment. Both of her parents sing and her father also played drums. She followed her mother’s lead by singing Gospel in church and remembers their small Baptist congregation as an excellent setting for her first public singing appearance at age 13.
Since moving to Portland about 12 years ago, LaRhonda has honed her skills performing with a variety of groups, including ‘Boogie Cat’ Norman Sylvester, Ocean 503, Kita Montgomery, the Ken DeRouchie Band, Kim Ralfs, the No deLay Band, Linda Rossi Trotta’s “Out of The Blue”, and Obo Addy’s modern American Jazz-African High Life group.
LaRhonda is a professional in high demand, and performs regularly with The LaRhonda Steele Band, as well as a variety of artists including many listed above. In 2004, LaRhonda and Linda Rossi teamed up again, and she joined Linda Rossi and Friends.
Suffice it to say that LaRhonda Steele is an amazing performer channeling the Love and Light of Spirit with every lilting note. She lifts you up during her heartfelt renditions, and then gently sets you down again leaving you knowing that through her music, you have just been changed.
