QUALITY FOLK = Kate Power & Steve Einhorn are folksingers, songwriters, artists, entertainers, writers, teachers and publishers from the Pacific Northwest. First prize winners for "songs that make a difference" (Music2Life 2006) and the creative force behind the socially-conscious music center known as Artichoke Music in Portland, OR (1981-2006), they created the "Ukalaliens Songbook" (2009) and in the past year have toured the US as community harmonizers with dozens of extra ukes-to-lend, converting thousands of non-musicians into playing and singing on ukuleles.
From the "Kitchen Waltz" on Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion" to the Grand Prize for "Travis John" for "songs that make a difference" from Noel Paul Stookey of Peter, Paul & Mary at the Kerrville Folk Festival (Music2Life 2006), "Kate & Steve write new songs that feel like old friends" says Tom Paxton.
"Kate Power & Steve Einhorn are entertainers and teachers of intelligence, compassion and wit... Their songs reside in many places across the Americana landscape – from barbershops to mountain glens, from city streets to the other side of never – each holding a treasure worth hearing and keeping close. Listen with someone you love, you will find yourself wanting to reach out and hold a hand." -Tara Wolfe, Cabin Fever
