STARR SHEPPARD-DECKER is a budding professional singer/songwriter looking to inspire the world with her words and presence. She has been singing for as long as she can remember. The first memories Starr has of her love for music are recording songs like, “Once Upon a Dream” from Sleeping Beauty using her brown Fisher Price tape recorder – she was about 3 yrs old. Originally from Southern California, Starr moved to Portland in 1998 where she felt drawn to the environmental awareness and laid-back lifestyle. An artist, a revolutionary, and authentically passionate in her expression, she never saw anything she wanted in the traditional 9-to-5 world.
 
Starr is extremely passionate about not only environmental awareness, but changing our consciousness with regard to everything we take for granted in our consumerist world is what she hopes to do with her music and her life. She currently volunteers for the world-changing organization, Commonway, among other activities and choices based on Inclusivity.
 
In 2002, a few years after reuniting with her father, Bill Sheppard, a life-long musician and Licensed Practitioner of Science of Mind, she was led to New Thought. Starr dove right in, taking classes, and is now a licensed Religious Science Practitioner (RScP). She sings with the Friends Gospel Chorus and has worked as a Karaoke DJ. She and her amazing, supportive husband are the parents of three young boys!
 
Starr is drawn to music that calls to her soul, and enjoys a wide variety of genres, from hard rock like System of a Down to expressive piano like Tori Amos; from jazzy R&B like Erykah Badu to rock/reggae/ska like Sublime. This shows in her music – and her voice – which can be bluesy, spiritual, or just plain rock 'n’ roll. She is just now really stepping into her own style of writing, which has been called “unique” and “soulful.” Over the last several years, Starr and Trevor Massey have combined their musical and writing talents as the duo StarrVor, bringing their own flavor of what they call “mostly rock” music to audiences in the Portland area.
 
Starr is a creative, authentic expression of Spirit hoping to inspire others by her example. She looks forward to continuing her journey in music, raising awareness and changing the world!
